Quantitative Analysis of Concurrent Reversible Computations

چکیده
Reversible computing is a paradigm of computation that extends the standard forward-only programming to reversible programming, so that programs can be executed both in the standard, forward direction, and backward, going back to past states. In this paper we present novel quantitative stochastic models for concurrent and cooperating reversible computations. More precisely, we introduce the class of ρ-reversible stochastic automata and define a semantics for the synchronization ensuring that this class of models is closed under composition. For this class of automata we give an efficient way of deriving the equilibrium distribution. Moreover, we prove that the equilibrium distribution of the composition of reversible automata can be derived as the product of the equilibrium distributions of each automaton in isolation.

Applying Reversibility Theory for the Performance Evaluation of Reversible Computations
Reversible computations have been widely studied from the functional point of view and energy consumption. In the literature, several authors have proposed various formalisms (mainly based on process algebras) for assessing the correctness or the equivalence among reversible computations. In this paper we propose the adoption of Markovian stochastic models to assess the quantitative properties ...
متن کاملA Novel Design of Reversible Multiplier Circuit (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Adders and multipliers are two main units of the computer arithmetic processors and play an important role in reversible computations. The binary multiplier consists of two main parts, the partial products generation circuit (PPGC) and the reversible parallel adders (RPA). This paper introduces a novel reversible 4×4 multiplier circuit that is based on an advanced PPGC with Peres gates only. Ag...
متن کاملOn-the-Fly Model Checking for Extended Action-Based Probabilistic Operators
The quantitative analysis of concurrent systems requires expressive and user-friendly property languages combining temporal, datahandling, and quantitative aspects. In this paper, we aim at facilitating the quantitative analysis of systems modeled as PTSs (Probabilistic Transition Systems) labeled by actions containing data values and probabilities. We propose a new regular probabilistic operat...
متن کاملCreating an accurate portrayal of concurrent executions
Visualization tools for concurrent systems must support designers in their quest to create visualizations that promote an understanding of concurrent computations and avoid inconsistent or unsynchronized views that mislead users. A visualization system with reorderable, synchronous, and independent displays provides the necessary framework for understanding concurrent computations. This article...
متن کاملGeneral Reversibility
The first and the second author introduced reversible ccs (rccs) in order to model concurrent computations where certain actions are allowed to be reversed. Here we show that the core of the construction can be analysed at an abstract level, yielding a theorem of pure category theory which underlies the previous results. This opens the way to several new examples; in particular we demonstrate a...
